The Dirt on Cleaning: My Summer Journey into Carpet Cleaning in Sussex

If you’d told me last year that I’d be deep in the world of carpet cleaning by summer, I probably would’ve laughed. But here I am, tackling stains, mastering the extractor, and transforming carpets all over Sussex—and honestly? I love it.

I used to think a quick hoover did the trick—how wrong I was! Since starting in the summer, I’ve learned so much. From mastering the art of stain removal, to pulling the dirt particles together with an agitator machine, there’s a lot more science behind it than you’d expect. Who knew that there were so many different treatments for your carpets’ stains? Or that some shop-bought stain removers do more harm than good?

It’s not just carpets, either—sofas have been a big part of the job too. I had no idea how much dirt and grime could build up in a fabric sofa until I started cleaning them properly. From pet hair to mystery stains, you never quite know what you’re going to find! But with the right techniques (and a bit of elbow grease), even the dullest-looking sofa can be refreshed and revived.

The best part? Seeing the look on a client’s face when they realise their old, grubby carpet isn’t actually ruined—it just needed the right TLC. Whether it’s a deep clean for a family home in Brighton or tackling stubborn stains in a Sussex office, there’s something so satisfying about breathing new life into carpets and upholstery.

If your carpets or sofas could do with some TLC, get in touch with Country House Cleaning—we’d love to help bring them back to life!
